• Inkscape SVG file problems as seen in Squiggle (Batik 1.6) and Firefox 1.5.
  • Dynamic linked paths don't update properly.
  • Markers don't properly use viewBox.

• Squiggle (Batik 1.6)
  • Flowed text not supported (SVG 1.2). Squiggle does not ignore (as it should) tags in does not understand and will not render drawings with flowed text.
• Opera 8.51 (Supports SVG Tiny specification.)
  • Patterns not supported.
  • Text not supported.
  • Markers not supported.
  • Dashed lines not supported.
  • Gradients rendered incorrectly.
  • Transparency values off.
  • Included bitmaps not rendered.
• Opera 9.20 (Supports SVG 1.1 specification.)
  • Markers wrong shape, position, and size. Maybe problem of markers without viewBoxes.
  • Stroke cap style supported as of 9.1.
  • Filters supported. Opera requires "filterUnits" to be defined if geometric parameters are given, Batik doesn't.
  • Clipping and masking supported.
  • Text on path with kerning mis-rendered (see Text examples).

Editors:

• Sketsa (Trial version or $49 purchase, download from Kiyut)
  • Filters supported
  • Markers displayed but no editing support.
  • Resources (<defs>) editor.
  • Custom dashes easily defined.
  • Overall interface not as well designed as Inkscape's.
  • Limited export/import support.

Objects/Attributes

• Patterns
  • No support in Firefox 1.5.
  • Squiggle OK but Batik output not displayed correctly in Evince (one copy of pattern, upside down) or Acroread 7.0.5 (repeated pattern, upside down).
• Markers
  • Inkscape does not treat viewBox correctly when displaying and does not include a viewBox when creating markers. It also does not include the attributes markerWidth and markerHeight. Opera 9 has problems displaying Inkscape markers.

• Space added when index term added.
• Acronyms not used.
• Can not use <indexterm> inside formal paragraph.
• Page header incorrect.
